The flowing leaves are brushed gold-tone metal with shiny edges and veins and stems. They radiate outward from the cluster of pearly and sparkly “stones". Beautiful and very representative of their era.

This handsome and like new, dark green leather vanity and manicure set is in the shape of a squared triangular, is dated back to the 50's due to the materials used. It has everyting you need for those early morning ablutions on the road.

The leather, glass jars and lids and other tools are in perfect condition with some minor wear on the outside of the case. Heavy white thread stiching throughout. The heavy metal zipper works great. A barely used handle on the top works perfectly to carry it easily. Very few minor leather rubbings on the corners and edges of the case. barely noticeable.

This large beautiful creamy colored off white wood base with faux leather top, Jewelry case is all lined in elegant red velvet. Very elegant!

First the center opens. In this section, there are 2 compartment trays and 4 ring slots.
Then the 2 sides open next that reveal 3 compartment trays. Below these pop outs are 3 large compartments in the mid-section. They are 8.5 x 4, and 8.5 x 5, in the very middle. The hidden drawer on bottom has 2 large compartments 8.5 x 3.5. and 12 2 x 2 sqares for earrings. The overall measurements are 15 x 10 x 6

While this piece is in very good condition, there are a few things to mention. There are a few creasing indents in the velvet from the previous owners jewelry. Also, the slightly padded faux leather, which is only on the top, has a very thin slit on the mid-section. For this reason, if one didn't want to just leave it as is, as it is not a big gash, I think this would be a perfect canditate for some upcycling. As the tops could very easily be reupholstered with some nice fabric of your choice and a good glue gun. One could get away with even just doing the center (where the slit is, seen in the pic) and leaving the side tops as contrasting, as they are very nice.

Beautiful wood frame and handle. Lovely hand carved garlands and bows decorate this beauty. MC for Mary C., which were her Mothers initials too....they were her Mother's Mothers initials as well!

There is 1 flaw in the wood frame, which was either done at the time of its creation or was done later and re-lacquered. Because it is all thouroughly lacquered. The flaw can be seen in the close up of the handle. The flaw? It has lost one of its dainty curls at the base of the morror..it has been completely resealed and or varnished.

You can see the glass is vintage and has some little black marks around the beveled rim, only due to age. You can also see a few minor scratches on the glass. However in that same picture you can see the true brilliance and beauty of this beveled work of art. 9 x 4

It is wonderful to hold it in your hand and think of all the pretty hands that have held it before.

This beautiful indian woman is in very good condition, and very clean. She has a leather overcoat, trim headband, a fluff of feather in her bandana and lovely seed bead trims. All suede and very soft. Her suede mocassins complete her outfit.
Her pretty gold sleeper eyes don't open and shut automatically, but they do open and shut and she is still a fine looking doll.
Her papoose on her back is a seperate doll that comes out of the backsack. One of the pins to hold the papoose to her is apart but can easily be stitched or glued closed and fixed. Her arms move. Her hair is still in good condition and braided well.
She is 8 inches.

She will need a doll stand as she does not stand well.

This guy is so adorable! He has the most engaging jolly face!
Each foot is marked Arne Halse and the right also says "Askim" and the left also says "Norge." He is Norwegian.
He is believed to be around 50 years old.
He has a rubber face, hands, legs and feet and felt body with yarn adornments. He is designed to sit (stand pictured not included) and measures 8" tall (seat to head) in the sitting position. He has an intentional white dusty look on his hands and feet.
His body is of soft foam rubber and wire. Rubber or Latex head hands and feet. He appears to be giggling as his eyes are shut with laughter and a beaming smile...a very happy face. A well endowed nose.... and skillfully hand painted features. This seemingly young guy has a fuzzy unkempt white beard, that is plugged through his face. His hands are dis-proportionately large for his body (intentional).
His sweater seems to be hand knitted in a black and white pattern. A touch of green accents his Christmasy look. A cap with a long tail and yarn to the feet. Handsome red rubber boots are on his feet. Remember this is not a doll, but rather a figurine for Christmas or even all year long home decor. he would be very cute on your fireplace hearth or even sitting on your tree. He needs a prop to sit up though.

Monkey's suit is in excellent condition too...he is a fine sturdy little guy! How adorable!
His inside foam rubber is dry...but his suit is very soft and fuffy with no worn patches. Monkey has many many years left in him. He has no marks chew bites or tears. He has lived in a smoke free home.
While he does not stand on his own, he sits upright very well. His rosy cheeks and painted eyes will delight any child, however monkey would be happiest just sitting on your shelf with all your other stuffed toys. He measures 15"
Won't you consider adoption? He is very well behaved.

This is one of Hasbro's contribution to the darling rodent. It works very well. Has Hasbro logo and boy on bottom and copyright dated 1968. It may need cleaning. It has the removable plug on the bottom too. No issues, whatsoever! Works great!
From Hasbro Gumball Machines by Euphrates: " Hasbro first fooled around with the gum-dispenser concept in the early '60s with it's Chiclets and Dubble Bubble machines. Besides making gum available to children whenever they wanted it, the machines also acted as banks. Banks that children could remove the money from whenever they wanted it. The machines were generally clear heads of popular characters that held the gum, attached to a bank and separated by a coin feeding mechanism. This smart navy bue wool felt hat Is in remarkable condition for being from the "early 40's". This is retrieved from a woman who loved the hat but never wore it. She said she got it many years ago at an estate sale with all the other 30's & 40's hats that were being sold.
The Label reads: Tourista Made in Switzerland Expressly for Lord and Taylor.It has an amazing stitched Swirl in the crown. You can see the detail of this stitching in the photos of the inside of the hat best.
Very clean, only some yellowing on the lable. It is soft and pliable, but remains firm where you want it to be.
The brim can fold down or up at several different angles for effect. It measures 7h x 13w x 8" inside diameter.
You can remember this style in old photos. Very nice and stylish hat.

A Birds Eye Brand Advertising Card Boasting about the wonders of fast, all in one, in front of the TV Dinners!These were probably featured inside grocery store isles with the price marked in the lower right corner. I think since it features a metal tray, that this definitely dates this pre microwave days and one had to heat up there dinner in an old fashioned oven!
The lower left corner of this cardboard ad has a small tip that is damaged, you can barely make it out in the picture. There is also, from the manufacture, on the yellow letters, what I would call bleeding ghosts.So faint you cannot see it in the phot. This happened at print. All Else in good condition.
This was the beginning of a whole new way of family dining. A fun slice of time captured in an advertisement.
It measures 13.25 x 9.75

Swank Gold Mother Of Pearl Fishermans Tie Clip & Cuff Links in Gift Box

This handsome set of inlaid Mother of Pearl and gold is in mint condition...including the gift box.
The tie clip is a charming gold fishing rod that is a slip on clip. It features a stylish gold wire that is the fishing line and the rod is inlaid on the handle with the Mother of Pearl piece. There is a Silver round at the hand of the rod to represent the reel.
The two fish cuff links are the flip lever type and are of the curved bodies of the fish with inlaid Mother of Pearl.
All finely made by Swank. I believe this is gold plate, as there are no karat markings on any of the pieces. There is the Swank mark on each piece.
The Faux alligator 3x3x1 box is in almost like new condition (1 teeny ding as seen inthe pic), but ready for gift giving. Swank is logo'd inside the box. This was purchased at an estate sale and I believe the box, or the set, were not used much.
A good gift for Christmas, Fathers Day, or just because you love him.

Multi Chain Bobbles and Beads 3 Strand Necklace Greens

This 32" lightweight and fun three stands of goldtone and multi shaded green beads is in very good condition. No tarnish, still nice and shiny. It has a slip ring latch that moves perfectly. At the end of the necklace is a belled ornament that several matching strands hang from. The beads are different textures too, as you can see in the close up.

This fine looking ethnic straw purse is probably older than the 80's but I just can't be sure. I want really say the 70's or 60's. I remember having something like this purse then.
The straw is in beautiful condition. No rips or snags or fraying. The Straw flowers are starting to show some wear. The yarn stitchwork is all secure and in tact. There is a flower and stitching on the top flap too.
The goldtone fixtures are in slightly tarnished condition. But stll look nice and shiny! The leather, or faux leather, clasp is starting to fray.

The inside is clean and has a sweet straw fragrance.
The leather or faux leather, handle wraps are in tact with the exception of 1 small area. It is starting to come apart (barely noticeable). However, underneath the wrap is the strong and sturdy straw handle so this wrap could conceivably come completely off and still be very usable and nice looking. Flip top is tied to the body with black string...secure, but probably not the original attachment.
I would put a big beautiful scarf inside and let it flow behind, as you shop or comb the beach on a hot summer day!!!

The child simply takes one safely designed wire and touches the hole above, for example, the fox and then takes the other wire and touches the hole over the description. When it is the correct name & description the bulb at the top lights up very brightly...very rewarding, if I do say so myself!

Adorable little lady, Story Book Doll with a painted face and kissy lips. Her blonde hair is topped with a blue brimmed hat. Her satiny pink/mauve full dress is accented with a tulle net petticoat and panties.
She has white painted formed shoes. Only her arms move on her plastic body.
Really cute and in nice condition...Her hair is mussy, but hey she has been around for probably a good 50 years!
I would love it if anyone could identify her further. I want to say she looks like Little Bo Peep, but think her satin dress is a bit fancy for Peep.

Reddy Kilowatt...the logo of many electrical companies throughout the 50's here in a cute plastic fugurine and standing with slotted feet in it Bakelite stand. But there is a surprise....He Glows in the Dark!

Both sides of his skinny see through plastic body are exactly the same and likewise his face and hands are the same on each side.

There is a US Patent # on both Shoes and Reddy Kilowatt marked on the shoes and the bottom of the Bakelite stand.

Reddy Kilowatt is drawn as a stick figure whose body and limbs are made of "lightning-bolt" symbols and whose bulbous head has a light bulb for a nose and wall outlets for ears. Reddy was created at the Alabama Power Company by Ashton B. Collins, Sr., and debuted March 11, 1926. He was subsequently licensed by some 300 electrical companies in the U.S. and abroad looking to sell homes on using the relatively new technology. He was featured in a 1947 comic book and movie produced by the studio of Walter Lantz. Reddy Kilowatt was a frequent presence in publicity material until energy conservation replaced energy production as a national goal with the growth of the environmental movement and the OPEC oil embargo. He is now rarely seen. In 1998, Reddy was bought by Northern States Power Company, which created an entire subsidiary, Reddy Kilowatt Corp., to manage the cartoon. He measures 5.5". He is in excellent condition with only some slight wearing of the red lines on his face.

I do have a great looking and perfect condition Reddy Kilowatt Ashtray that will be a bonus...as long as it is available...with the purchase of Reddy.

Reddy Kilowatt Electric company logo from the 50's is embossed on this mint condition ashtray. Collectors of Reddy and electrical company promotional collectibles, will note that I also have for sale in my shop the actual Reddy Kilowatt Glow in the dark figurine. (See seperate listing).

This is 4" round and 1" deep clear glass with 3 protuded cigarette ridges on the side.

The logo also has (Registered trademark logo), Reddy Kilowatt. The glass, with no chips cracks or dings, is starting to pink up a bit, as aged glass does. It looks old.

This smart looking bag is very clean, no marks or fraying and like new! The latch works great.
Inside is a metal zipper pocket. It reads "Genuine Leather" lining. The look and feel suggest it is leather on the outside as well. Very sturdy and firm.
The goldtone trim is not tarnished at all.
Made in the USA. The bottom, which stands level, is even unmarked!
The double 13" strap is NOT adjustable. Hand held only The strap is mint as well!
A medium size...9.5 x 6"
This reminds me of the purse that Peggy would use on Mad Men!
...and the red, the red is a delicious deep apple red! Nice!

Chain Maille Purse Handbag Clutch Evening Bag Black Open Link!

Very slinky and full of sparkles...you'd think it was sequins, but it is instead chain maille (you know, like armor but very fine and beautiful!), "fabric" all linked together to create a stunning black evening bag. Or if you like even for day wear.
It has a 38" chain shoulder strap. Or can be used as a clutch.
A Goldtone ring on the front of the bag holds a few pleats of the chain maille. Chain is black metal. There are goldtone attachments with a black nylon zipper opening and 1 inside pocket. The interior is all black satin. No zipper on pocket label. The goldtone is not tarnished at all. Zipper works very good.

Handmade Pink Sherbert Lined Summer Dress

The colors of this dress are amazing...the fabric is a variegated abstract blotchy pattern of mainly pinks, lavenders, golds and off white... speckled with tiny gray splashes overall. Very summery and yummy!

The material is satiny, only a slight sheen like polished cotton, but lighter and silkier. It feels like it would be a cool dress. May be Rayon blend with cotton.

The Front has a V-neck with a "Y" dart pattern that meets at the middle seam. Sleeveless but with just a slight lip over the shoulder. The waist seam is tapered up in the middle slightly.

Sweet 1 inch flat pleats that run in the opposite directions from the middle...the pleats flow into a full skirt with a 4" hem

A hidden 20" Talon Nylon zipper dates this to maybe the 70's or 80's, although the style suggests more the 70's. It is fully lined in white of the same fabric... and acts as a slip for the skirt as well, which is attached in only 2 places, the front and the back hem, with loose strings to allow the skirt freedom to move.

There is no sizing or label...this is a handmade dress...But here are the measurements all lying flat:

Skirt hem to waist is 23.5 ". The waist is 15" (no strecth). Waist to V-neck 11". Top of zipper to waist is 14". Shoulder to shoulder is approx 20". Arm hole is 7.5". top of neck hole is 9"

Beautifully crafted, someone took great care in making this a lovely dress.

This very large photo is Sepia tone, and in good condition. There is some creasing, but still very frameable. Behind a matted frame you will not see the small white missing piece in the border.
Judging by the clothes these train men are wearing, I believe the picture was taken originally at the turn of the century.
It measures 22.5 x 17". It is a rolled photo and will be sent rolled.
A very nice piece of railroad, trainmen and photgraphs memorabilia.

The bobble head images of Connie Stevens, Michael Landon, Paul Peterson are pretty cute.
This magazine is not in mint condition it is showing so fraying around the edges. There is some separation, not completely, of the cover from the body pages, and some of the inside pages. but all are still together.

Also Michael Landon on the inside has been turned into a devil face with purple marker...! but this just adds to the fun of the vintage read.

Fabulous gossip stories and pics! Oh and speaking of pics there 101 of Elvis!
There is a Vince Edwards Center fold and Neil Sedaka is the only color photo on the inside back cover. All the rest of the pages are a newsprint sepia

MM Morris Moskowitz Pure Silk Vintage Purse

Very very soft! "MM Fine silk" monogrammed on the inside. The outer is a pure black sild. Double silk handle. Gold Floral motif clasp. A creamy buff lining of a fine silky feel. It is plush too, that is to say it has a thick padded lining.

The floral motif filagree gold metal latch works perfectly and smoothly.

The darted opening, (opens very wide) has a small internal side pocket that carries the items that were in it when I purchased this at an estate sale.

They are a Saks 5th Ave tortouise shell hand-mirror and a blue lacy hanky and a vintage glitter-speckled hair comb. Very elegant. Sophisticated. Very minor use markings inside. Spotless outside.

A beautiful 8.5x5.5x 1 w handbag, that would be well suited for evening, with it's combed sheen, or day wear.

Better Homes and Gardens Red Check Cook Book 1951

"Oh my Mom used to have one of those!" I hear this all the time. My Mom too...I used to love it when she pulled it out of her cookbook library...I knew something wonderful was going to be on the table that night!
Considering that the previous owner of this book really did use this... it is in really good condition. But you can tell that it was used. There is the expected discoloring from light here and there, mainly on the inside jacket. The outside is beautiful!
The tabs are not brand new looking. But the pages are all in tact, and still very colorful and useful. Not any markings that I can see...
Bonus! There are lots of loose recipes, which I figure, since they have been living so long in this Better Homes Cookbook that they should stay there...so that you can try out her recommended or favorite recipes too!
It has all the usual chapters from Appetizers to Desserts, and great full color pictures.

Vintage Princess Pink Woven Sewing Basket

A sweet bouquet of multi colored daises are decaled on the top of this in like new condition, sewing basket.

A full sized bouquet of multi colored daises are on the top. A small bouquet is matching on the inside bottom. This is a very pretty and useful little sewing box.

The daisy motif on the top decal has dried but entirely in tact, none of it is peeled or chipped away. But the top does have a small white discoloration on the top edge about 1 in long from factory. You can barely see it in the pic. It is as if it was touched when the paint was still wet...seen in pics.

The pink chord handle is like new too. No other marks, chips, broken weaves, and the bottom is very clean with no markings! one side of edge on the lids rim has very smal worn off paint...probably from where the lid slides to the side to open.

Inside is a row of 9 spool dowels on a tray. No other pieces or attachments.
Maker is Princess Crystal Lake Illinois Reg US Pat Office2536590 Pat Pend. It measures 11 x 6.

Useful for a sewing basket, hat box, a goody box or as a lovely vintage display for your sewing room!

Set: 4 English Floral Samplers Framed in Embossed Brass Sheeting

This lovely quad of flower samples under glass and framed in delicate shimmering stenciled brass sheet are stunningly sweet. While the illustrations of the roses are not original the detail on them is beautiful. I believe they are all roses, but not positive.
The images are in very good condition, except that one (the yellow classic rose) has a very light discoloration at the side of the rose. The circular glass covers of the images are in very good condition with no chips or cracks or scratches.
The metal frames are very thin and flexible. You can literally bend them. They are stamp cut in the border with butterflies and the metal carries through as the back of the frame as well, which all are in excellent condition. Each one is embossed “Made In England” and has a pull away eye in the metal to place your hook in. They are very light weight individually, but together they weigh about a pound. They measure 6” around.
Very pretty! These would look beautiful on your vintage wall collection.

Bissell's Little Queen This adorable Mommy's helper carpet sweeper is in almost perfect condition.
The chrome bracket is sparkling as you can see, which is remarkable for a childs toy from 1955!
The metal red top and underside is completely dent and paint chip free! It looks almost new! The rubber bumper around the side is very good too. I think the "Little Queen" that owned this didn't like being "mommies little helper" or house cleaning! In fact, The man I bought it from said "...it was my sisters and it had been in storage since she was a little girl in the 50's".

Bissell manufactured these from 1955 through 1963.
It is missing the teal green handle. But the screw in on the metal bracket is in perfect condition and ready for a new painted dowel from any hardware store. Also, the red top, while very solidly secure and in place, is slightly ajar from the teal green wooden frame. This does not detract from its usability at all and frankly very hard to even notice, you can slightly see this in the top-view pic.
The bottom has some wonderful vintage verbage about helping mommy and so on...more on that later...just wanted to get this posted. I will have the complete text for you soon...It is very cute.
The bristle, might be horse hair and the rollers work fine.

Bobby Sherman 1972 Lunchbox!

Alright girls! Settle down! Yes here he is... Bobby in a box! I know you remember his sweet sexy smile...and his "La, La, La" and "Easy Come, Easy Go" tunes.

I personally had such a crush on him and I even got to meet him once at the local mall...just a lucky chance meeting...he hung around with us mall rats for hours!

But back to the Lunch Box....It is in used condition of course, with scratches and marks...look closely at the pics though, (sorry about the quality), you will not see any dents or rust. Some expected tarnish on the metal lock. The hinge, latch and the handle are all solid and work perfectly. The litho print is worn in the obvious places as the pics will show.
Inside is the markngs of where the themos once rested. There is no thermos.

All that being said, this is a wonderful collectors piece of early bubble gum rock....and...BOBBY SHERMAN! But also this would make a cool tote or handbag! why not?

Below is a bit of history and also what Bobby is doing now...you won't believe it! What a sweetheart!

Bobby Sherman was an extremely popular teen idol of the early 1970's -He starred in the the TV Shows, "Getting Together", "Here Come The Brides" and "Shindig" - His Gold Records included: "Little Woman", "La, La, La", " and "Julie Do Ya Love Me"

This 50 foot leather bound rule has seen some work!
It is cloth and is missing its pull. But still perfectly retractable when you push the button on the back and it pops the crank open to hand wind. The metal casing is bound in brown leather.
I have inspected the entire 50 ft of tape and all is in tact and usable. But rather this is a nice collectible of tools gone by.
The owner had scratched in pen "50 ft" on it. The Embossed leather reads 'Mettallic Lufkin Rule Co Saginaw Mich.

Looking at these pictures...you do so want to 'take them in your arms' and sleep away with them in their 'land of dreams'...sweet and precious happy babies...what can be more soothing to look at than that?

This duet is framed in a very nice and in perfect shape frame. Ready to hang, but it does not have a glass. All the same, the images are in perfect condition (with one teeny white hairline in the blue heart outline on one of them), and you can see Charlotte Beckers signatures and titles in both of them. On the left is "Take Me in Your Arms" and the right is " Land O Dreams".

It appears that someone has tried to look at the back of the print as the wrapping is mostly torn away, but still secured. Of course this is easily remedied. The picture does need a new matte as it has been marred, as you can see in the picture.

The frame itself is a gray washed, antique look frame.

About Ms Becker: Charlotte Becker (1907-1984) was well known for her figures and portraits, especially of children. She was born in Germany and came to the United States at the age of 5. She is considered a great baby artist.

Lady Bug - Ohta K Brand

This all metal and Lithographed full color wind up toy is as cute as a bug in a rug!
2 wheels on the bottom allows it to roll as a push toy, however the wind up key does not work. Maybe with some oiling it may. Just pretty tight.
But as a vintage toy collectible, she is adorable. All yellow body and multicolored dots on the body. A bright happy face too. there are 2 very unnoticeable holes on the top that I presume had feelers in them, but they are missing. It measures: 3.25 x 2.5 x 1.5 tall. Perfect size for little hands!
The litho color is perfect not a scratch or chip anywhere. The under body has normal scuff marks from play, but just a few, and there are no dents!
The Ohta K monogram is on the side and made in Japan...here is a bit more about this 50's toy maker:

Vintage Hand Painted Folk Art 2 Sided Pan Skillet Wall Hanging

Two very different scenes of folk art is hand toll painted on each side of this vintage pan. A Rooster enjoying the day on one side, and on the other side, two children discussing lifes mysteries as they feed the chickens.
The toll hand painting is painted right over the rustic burnt on crustiness of the metal. This of course adds to the folk art nature of the piece.
A hole in the handle is where one can hang on the wall on either side.
The pan or skillet is not dented at all, and as sturdy as can be. The handle and the pan are molded as all one piece. Measures 8x15" pan / 75x2" From tip of the handle to pan rim. There are some very small spider bites/chips of the paint on the rim, but nowhere else are there chips. All the paint is in tact.
A sunny and warm piece for your kitchen or folk art collection.

Precious! A Young Mother holding her child close wrapped in softness, pastels, happiness and love. Mothers is wearing a sheer wrap, baby is wearing nothing. Behind them is the full moon. Symbolic of motherhood.
This is in perfect condition as it is sealed and backed with carboard. the brown spots seen in the picture is on the cellophane sealed sleeve. Some of the rippling in the picture is from the cello as well. Ready for matting and framing.
The flip calendar is dated 1942, but this was probably made some time earlier than 42. It measures 7.25 x 16".

Tijuana Mexico Wooden Sombrero Ashtray

Ok Californians ...remember going to Tijuana with the family years ago and heading for the market place...all the color and the people and the donkeys and the souvenirs?
This is one of them ....and it was used, as you can see!
It is the shape of a sombrero and and etched markings and wordings decorate its black paint relief design. One side says Tijuana Mexico. The reverse side says "The Dolds", the families name that purchased it. The crown of the "sombrero" seats the cigarette and has Mexico etched in it as well..
It is nicotine stained and some of the black paint has come off, but all in all it is still very readable and a terrific memorabilia of Tijuana and the trinkets that were, for a few pesos, brought home to share and use.
The bottom has 3 bone button feet. I have read that this is actual bone.
This is very old and is a fine addition to nostalgic tobacciana, as well as old Tijuana!

These lovely Courier & Ives Lithographs, set on hardwood, are in very good condition.
Depicting the four seasons, home life in all it glory and beauty are captured by the famous litographers work. The Roadside Mill features Spring ... all in bloom
American Homestead features Summer and happy animals
American Homestead Autumn features the Fall, harvest time and abundance
A Home in The Wilderness features the quiet times of winter
Each one is printed with the text: "1971 Stapco, N.Y. Published by Courier and Ives 153 Nassau St. New York Lito in USA". The Roadside Mill does have a few brown spots at the bottom of the image which is not very noticeable in person, but can be seen in the photos.

They measure 7.75 x 5.5 x .75". The paper reproductioins are very securely in tact to the board. No peeling or even the beginning of peelings The backs a not marred, and they do not have brackets for hanging. The rustic wood backings are in very good shape and meant to have the rough edges. They are not chipped or damaged in anyway.

A very nice quadrant of Americana.

Since this letter is written in Portuguese, or a variation of it, I only have a small idea what the meaning or purpose of the letter is. I am toldethere ae references to a good time well had and a thank you.
It is on un-lined letterhead of the hotel and the off-white paper shows barely any ware...only some minor yellowing on the edges and folds It is one sided and the bold logo on the top appears to list room rates, and management names. The letter does come with a pre-addressed envelope
It is on 8.5 x 11. This letter was written before the great 1906 quake in San Francisco.
I tried to find reference to the Lisbon Hotel With no success.
If anyone cares to translate this I would greatly appreciate it. Below you will find an interesting newsclip from The San Francisco call. (San Francisco [Calif.]) 1895-1913, October 08, 1898, Page 14, Image 14, submitted by Kristen, who did some research on this for us. She found this on the Library of Congress Website.
It is a story that mentions the Lisbon House that apparently housed many Portuguese as workers in San Francisco. Just an interesting gossip tale...about "Filomena Leonora Mideiros, a Portuguese belle..." a mail order bride who took a few turns with different gentleman before settling down!

This catalog from Campbell California, is the product of Fox Head founder, Geoffrey T. Fox. It has a letter from Fox on the back cover that you can read in the photo.
This catalog is in very good condition. Only a few little stains on the cover.

Geoffrey T Fox the owner, has quite a history beginning with a Phd in physics, launching Moto-X Fox in 79 and developing innovative parts and racing clothing.

Fox Racing Shox is a brand of offroad racing suspension components founded by Geoff Fox's brother, Bob Fox. Fox Racing Shox were distributed by Moto-X Fox and Bob's company was originally under the corporate umbrella of Moto-X Fox. In 1977 Bob's division split out as a separate company called Fox Factory Inc.[1]

Fox Head, Inc. headquarters are in Morgan Hill, California, with additional offices in Irvine, California and Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom. Fox built its business by developing clothing for motocross. Through sponsoring and working closely with riders such as Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Damon Bradshaw, Rick Johnson, Mark Barnett, Doug Henry, Jeremy McGrath and Steve Lamson,[citation needed] the company has researched and developed race clothing that provides riders with protection, performance and freedom of movement.

Fox Racing first opened for business in 1974, when Geoff Fox, a Ph.D. who taught physics at the Santa Clara University, launched Moto-X Fox, a distribution business for European motocross parts and accessories in a 1,500-square-foot (140 m2) building in Campbell, California. Within two years, Moto-X Fox was manufacturing suspension and engine components for racers looking for an on-track advantage. In the spring of 1977, Geoff was determined to show the American motocross public that his products were superior to those of the competition. He created his own privately-owned professional motocross team, Team Moto-X Fox. Going up against the Japanese factory teams, Team Moto-X Fox riders became the top non-factory riders in the series, finishing fifth, sixth and seventh in the highly-competitive AMA 125 cc National Championship series.[citation needed]

During the series, Team Moto-X Fox riders wore bright red, yellow and orange race outfits. Handmade by Fox, the clothing became a hit with the fans and interested enthusiasts started calling the Fox shop in Campbell enquiring about its availability.[citation needed] In 1980, Fox rider Mark Barnett won the company's first National Championship, and two years later, Brad Lackey won Fox 's (and the United States') first Motocross World Championship.[citation needed] In the ensuing two-plus decades, Fox-sponsored riders have won over forty National Motocross and Supercross Championships.[citation needed] In 2006 Fox rider Ricky Carmichael won the AMA Supercross Championship, while Lifelong Fox rider James Stewart won the FIM World Supercross Championship.

In July 2006, Fox Racing decided to change its name to Fox Head Racing, Inc.[2] The move was complete by the fall of that year. Fox decided such a change would help the brand further penetrate sporting venues aside from motocross, such as surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding.
Today, Fox remains a family owned and operated business, with the second generation working full-time at the company.[3]

Presidents Tie Clip with Trophy Gavel Plaque for St Bruno's Mens Club 1970
The inscription on the plaque reads: "Melvin Dold President 1970-1971 St Brunos Mens Club". the brushed gold emblem is set on a sold wood square that is approximately 8 x 10".
The matching alligator tie clip is 20 K Gold and reads: "St B.M.C. Pres. 70-71" a 1/2 " cross sits in the middle of the clip band. Also Gold.
I picked this up at a family estate sale and the gentleman that passed away was a well reknowned community service hero. This was just one of his many service awards. But I liked it with the tie clip.
The close up of the tie clip doesn't show the quality luster of it. It is very brilliant and in mint condition... as well is the plaque.

Little Golden Book Hush Hush It's Sleepytime Storybook Childs Bedtime Story

This precious Little Golden Book is in like new condition. It is dated 1969 and yet there are absolutely no markings or tears. There is some expected normal wear on the edges of the hardbound cover.
I fell in love with the pictures. (But I love images of sleeping animals). You can read some of the words in the pictures. Most likely for the younger set....all about everybody going to bed....and at peace.
The final image is of mommy smiling confidently as daddy finalizes playtime.
While Little Golden Books are very popular and abundant in every childs library, this is a rare one. But I did find it sold at higher prices, than other LGB's on line. I think it is because it is so sweet. If you have a youngster that just doesn't want to end the day ...this might be the ticket. Or add to your vintage book collection this childs bedtime story.

This very old 1939 Ben Gay (originally Baume Bengue') has survived 60 some odd years in a medicine cabinet or a drawer with very little wear! Yes the flap is missing from the box, and the tube is a bit dented but the tube is seemingly completely full of the Baume Bengue "Ben-Gay".
The box is firm and in good shape.
The instructional guide is in like new condition...with some minor wear.
The soothing "emergency" ointment, its box, and the 2 sided guide are available for your pharmacopia antique collection and display.

These are too cool for school!
Woody Woodpecker the famous 50's fowl is portrayed on the outer sides of the little youth slippers.You can also see his friends Chilly Willy, Splinter, and Knothead!
These are in almost perfect condition In fact. the outsides looks brand new...and there may be new soles on these...as they look to have never been worn. The warm fuzzy felt on the inside is a teeny bit discolored, but in remarkable shape! You can see in the pics that some of the glue on the sole has yellowed, which is due to its age. But definitely not very noticeable.
The leatherette is a cream white with a gold zig zag stitch trim.
There is no size marked anywhere...but if you think you want to put them on a younster instead of just display them as great Woody memorabilia and animation antiques then here are the dimensions: 6" L x 2.25 W at the wide part of the foot x 1.50" W at the Heel x 3.5" H

The swirled ceramic is dusted with gold on the heights of the piece.
Tobaccianna is collectible. These amazing organic beauties, once the center pieces of many a coffee tables and a must at parties, while still functional as ashtrays, can now be used as candy dishes, nut servers, or to simply float a gardenia in!

Bianchi White Wedding Evening Prom Gown Dress I was told by the person that I bought this from that this Bianchi original design is the very same design that Jacqueline Bouvier-Kennedy-Onassis wore to her coming out party! And that is just the type of occassion that this beautiful multi-layered chiffon and satin dress brings to mind.
Sweet, yet with a deep cut neckline it is quite an alluring princess dress!
Wired ruffles shaped as pedals all along the neckline, can be moved and bent to any position you wish. The pedals have the subtlest of small pearlescent sequins only on the stem of the leaf shapes that show only a small glimmer now and then...very subtle and lovely.
The Satin Ribbon waist is adorned with the same wired chiffon flower as the one on the neckline with pearl tipped sprigs shooting out of it. The close ups show how perfect this is, as it rests on the left side of the neckline and the opposite right side of the waist.
I do have more pictures to share if you want to see more. I am only allowed 5 pictures in my postings.
It is an approximate size 9 or 10 the skirt from waist to hem is 45"
One faux pas: You will see in the picture an ever faithful safety pin. The zipper has broken at the base of it. The prior owner repaired it with the pin. Options: You can have the zipper replaced by a seamstress or you can leave as is as it does not affect the dress fit. It does make the zipper slightly uneven at the top, but this is hidden by the full 4.5" bodice ruffle. You will want to have the dress professionally cleaned of course. It does have slight arm pit stains.
All of this is why, first, the dress is priced well below its value. In the 70's it was probably a very expensive dress, especially with the Binachi label on it. Secondly, I offer this dress to you because I can't help seeing lots of wonderful affects added to the dress to make it hip, colorful and even daring....Is it time to play dress up for those closet or up and coming seamstresses out there? What about shortening it?

The Mad Men Fashion File - Has Peggy Finally Found Her Style Groove?

Much like Mad Men itself, Don Draper may have started a trend: After his Blue Period earlier this season, the whole office took to wearing his chosen color. Peggy discarded her silk necktie for an indigo vest, Joan got it wrapped around her curves, Dr. Faye Miller sported it twice, and Pete Campbell took the phrase "blue blood" to a whole new level with his first ensemble: a bold cobalt blazer, accented with a skinny blue-slashed tie. "I know you're all slaves to Draper," says Ken Cosgrove at his lunch with Pete, and, at least in the wardrobe sense, that seems to be true.

But how can we focus on the office when Peggy goes to a downtown art party? Now she's wearing a striped long-sleeve shirt, her hair is mod, and she's sporting lip gloss. Wait... Has Peggy finally found her style groove? Fingers crossed, because, in the words of Rachel Zoe, she is shutting it down in that outfit. Peggy's horizontal stripes reference the French trend popular with American girls of the time. The look -- specifically the nautical striped tee -- is actually coming back in a major way. You can get a striped top like Peggy's at Lands' End or Ann Taylor -- and if you choose one with a boatneck, instead of Peggy's turtleneck, you'll make your neck look longer.

One more thing about the party scene: Did you notice Joyce's white leather jacket? She's a foil for California Stephanie's "carefree girl in white pants," but, at the same time, she's just another version of the youthquake, and the turquoise necklace she wore under her blazer in the elevator could just as easily have been worn over one of Stephanie's Tees.

Peggy's style mold continues to shatter in her next scene, when she wears something so thoroughly modern it makes me giddy. Sure, it's bright blue (she does worship Don, after all), but, aside from that, this piece is totally new for us. It's got a sharp geometric collar and an A-line skirt that hints at Betsey Johnson's designs for the Manhattan boutique Paraphernalia. And you guessed it: That store opened in 1965. (Fashion goddess Amy Larocca wrote about it for New York Magazine, if you want some extra inspiration.)

Peggy's outfits in this episode almost make Trudy Campbell look -- dare we say it? -- conventional. But costume designer Janie Bryant does something neat with Trudy in her first scene. She's wearing a dress with a very traditional, very feminine silhouette, but it's covered in a crazy clashing pattern. It's a neat reference to Trudy's essence: She's forward thinking and fun, but, deep down, she's thrilled to fill the traditional roles of wife and (expecting) mother.

Speaking of traditional roles, there was something amazing about the last scene at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. A glass door separates Peggy and Peter Campbell, whose suit had changed from blue to brown to black throughout the episode. Pete literally joins a pack of suits in the office, while Peggy is on the other side with peers in colorful scarves and oversize corduroy blazers. It's a beautiful moment, not only because of the characters' wrought personal history but also because -- let's face it -- the gap between the establishment and the counterculture will soon be way bigger than a glass door.

Did you cry at the end of the episode? I did. The sight of the old married couple passing Don's solitary apartment made me weep. But the man who wanted the pears was wearing an old nubby sweater, loose pants, and shuffling boat shoes, the same thing my grandfather (who also lived in New York City) wore. Maybe even in the fashion world, some things never change

French Ivory, The Greatest Sailing Ships and an Effanbee!

French Ivory Vanity Set: Powder Box, Mirror, Brush, Hair Receiver, Tray

This pretty vintage set consists of a brush, Powder box, Hair Receiver, and elegant mirror. Aside from a few invisible spots here and there (the few spots probably are from some sort of product, splashed on and can only be seen in a certain light). This is characteristic of French Ivory. Also characteristic is the wavy little lines in the celluloid that is the signature of French Ivory.
It is a creamy aged beige with a butterscotch bevel around the rims of each piece, and solidly on the inside of both lids.
The bristles on the brush appear to be horse hair but I am not certain of this. In any case, it is in perfect condition and absolutely clean.
The mirror is in very good condition, with the exception of 1 small chip under the glass. It is not on top of the glass as it is very smooth to the touch. The silver is also wrinkled at another point on the rim under the glass and not on top. It is very sturdy!
The tray has a small chip on the rim, but it also has the grain on it. It may not be part of the rest of the beveled set. So I am throwing it in at no cost. Some of the pieces also show angel hair scratches here and there from normal wear.
Measurements: Mirror: 10.5"x6", Brush: 8.5” x 3”, Powder Box & Hair Receiver Box: 4.5" X 2.25, Tray: 12.5 x 8.75" x .75".
A little history about French Ivory:
French ivory is just a fancy name for celluloid, a type of plastic invented in the late 1860s to imitate ivory. French ivory was the trade name for objects produced by the JB Ash Co. in Illinois. French or faux ivory is synonymous with several other trade names including Genuine French Ivory or Ivoire De Paris (often accompanied by an elephant symbol), Ivorette, Depose Ivor-Tone France, Ivorine, Ivorite, and Pyralin.
French ivory was in vogue from its inception through the late 1930s, with its heyday between 1910 and 1930. French ivory was used extensively for dressing table accessories and manicure sets for the bedroom. Fancier sets were often monogrammed. Many people today mistake French ivory for bakelite, which eventually replaced it.
John W. Hyatt developed Celluloid, a trademark for plastic in 1868. Vanity sets became popular during the 1890-1940. In an era when grooming was a timely process and not hurried as it is sometimes today, woman sat down to a vanity table/stand adorned with matching comb,brush, mirror, as well as manicure tools, shoe horns, button hooks, powder boxes, trinket boxes, hair receivers, etc. In think one of the most interesting pieces is the hair receivers. In Victorian times through 1900's, woman used the hair from the brushes to stuff in the container. The hair was then made into balls to stuff into small pin cushions, small pillows, or to incorporate into their hair filling in spots making hair appear full. The hair receiver could be called an early recycling device.

The back reads: “The schooner America, was built by George Steers in New York, to be shown in the first World’s Fair held in England in 1851. This beautiful baby doll has an all vinyl body/limbs; fully jointed. All molded fingers and molded toes. She

has adorable Effanbee features and molded hair. This sweet baby doll has clear blue eyes with all lashes. With darling pink cheeks and pink nurser mouth, she will delight any child be a wonderful conversation piece for your collection!. I was told that this is her original dress, but I am not certain of this. In any case, the little red dress is in perfect condition. Very crisp and clean.
The markings on the back of her head read: Effanbee 1971 #6171. Also a #10. Her body markings read: Effanbee 2400. There is a whistle, but is not working.

She has no under garments or shoes. She comes with a doll stand.

10 Tips To Care For Your Antique Glassware

Antique glassware needs a gentle hand. This month we'll give you some useful tips to help you care for your antique or modern glassware.

On Right :Depression Era Glass Creamer and Sugar Set Yellow Pinstripe

1. Avoid putting glassware into direct sunlight or near any other heat sources such as radiators.

2. Avoid slippage by using two hands when carrying delicate items. Remove lids and stoppers to be safe.

3. Avoid stains in vases by changing the water every two days and removing any flowers or leaves before they dry onto the vase. Keep in mind that any liquid will stain glassware if it remains over a period of time.

4. Avoid temperature extremes. Very cold or very hot water is too taxing on antique glassware. Sudden temperature changes can stress the glass.

5. Avoid the dishwasher; it is too harsh on fragile glassware. Fill a plastic bowl with warm soapy water in the sink to wash glassware. The plastic bowl protects the glassware from the hard stainless sink.

6. Wash items one at a time to avoid any in-water collisions. 7. Use a soft bristled brush made of nylon or plastic to wash glassware.

8. Line the drying area with towels in case of any tumbles. 9. Gently dry glassware with lint-free cloths.

10. During storage, remove decanter stoppers and lids. If there is any dampness, the lid will trap it in and cause cloudiness.

To name some of the 100's of styles and patterns, Pink Sunflower patterned depression cake plates
Fluorescent Uranium Depression Glass, Depression glass is clear or colored translucent glassware that was distributed free, or at low cost, in the United States around the time of the Great Depression. The Quaker Oats Company, and other food manufacturers and distributors, put a piece of glassware in boxes of food, as an incentive to purchase. Movie theaters and businesses would hand out a piece simply for coming in the door.

Most of this glassware was made in the central and mid-west United States, where access to raw materials and power made manufacturing inexpensive in the first half of the twentieth century. More than twenty manufacturers made more than 100 patterns, and entire dinner sets were made in some patterns. Common colors are clear, (crystal); pink, pale blue, green, and amber. Less common colors include yellow (canary), ultra marine, jadeite (opaque pale green), delphite (opaque pale blue), cobalt blue, red (ruby & royal ruby), black, amethyst, monax, and white (milk glass).

Although of marginal quality, Depression glass has been highly collectible since the 1960s. Due to its popularity as a collectible, Depression glass is becoming more scarce on the open market. Scarce pieces may sell for several hundred dollars. Some manufacturers continued to make popular patterns after World War II, or introduced similar patterns, which are also collectible. Popular and expensive patterns and pieces have been reproduced, and reproductions are still being made.

So what makes a wedding gown mid-century fab? It is the strapless necklines with natural waists flowing into full skirts. Tea length gowns were a new addition to the collections of many of the bridal designers, as were gowns with flirty tulle skirts. All of this adds up to a fantastic and feminine collection of wedding gowns for 2010 brides!

What bride might like a 1950s style gown for her wedding? Anyone who loves classic elegance, timeless beauty, and dresses meant for dancing! The emphasis on the natural waistline in the 50s inspired bridal gowns is a very flattering silhouette on many women. A fitted bodice with a strongly defined waist flowing into a full skirt will make your waist look tiny. The natural waist is also excellent for petite brides who tend to get cut in half by dropped waists, as well as any bride who wants to hide her tummy. Having a sash or wide ribbon at the waistline helps to make the effect even better.

Strapless reigns supreme in these gowns. The 1950s were especially known for their sweetheart strapless necklines, which are wonderfully romantic and feminine. They can be much easier to wear than the standard straight across strapless neckline, which can give some women a boxy look (especially those with broad shoulders). Do not fear that the sweetheart neckline will be too revealing for a busty figure; they can be very subtly shaped to conceal, rather than reveal, the bridal cleavage.

The embellishments on the 1950s style wedding dresses trend towards demure. Imagine beautiful French lace appliques on a tulle skirt, a pert little satin bow at the waist, or perhaps a bodice with a wrapped organza detail. These gowns do not tend to sparkle or shine with rhinestones; they are best accented with delicate pearl bridal jewelry. Choose an updated combination of pearl and crystal bridal jewelry, or go for the all out vintage effect with a traditional strand of pearls. Either way, the results will be gorgeous. Finish off your demure 50s inspired look with a waist length veil, and perhaps a little sheer organza coverup for the ceremony.

Remember making an apron in Home Ec?

The History of Aprons

I don't think our kids know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath,because she only had a few,it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids. And when the weather was cold grandma wrapped it around her arms.
Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow,

bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the menfolks knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool.
Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.

I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron.

Exquisitely sleek and, of course hand beaded, with faux pearls, silver bugle beads, and off white sequins set on flesh tone 100 % silk, this pre-worn gown is most gorgeous and sexy!
The rivelets of the “jewels” are in a flowing irregular pattern that completely covers the slim high collar and zippered tight full length sleeves.
A 26” slit on the right leg compliments all baring just the right amount of thigh!
All the jewels are in tact with the exception of the beads at the very top of the slit, that has been stressed and separated a bit. A seamstress will quickly be able to repair and reinforce this when you have it professionally cleaned, which of course you would want to do, since this is a pre-worn gown.
The measurements: The dress is a size 6
Lengths: Front: 55” (the front tapers up at the hem so it is a bit shorter in the front than the back). Back: 57” (slightly longer in the back). Sleeves: 22” lying flat 1 side. Slit 26”. Neck to slit 27”
Widths: Hip width lying flat: 17” 1 side. Breast width lying flat: 15” 1 side. Wrist width lying flat 3.5” 1 side.
Care instructions per the Bob Mackie Label: “100% silk. Do not wash. Do not dry clean. Professional spot cleaning only. Do not spray alchohol based products directly on garment such as: perfume, hair spray, deodorant, etc”
This gown will turn heads as you enter a room…imagine the 2 layered (a sheer silk on the opaque silk) flesh tone revealing only these sparkling rows of beads running up and down the slender body, while flashing a little leg as one steps, and dances... Wow!

Robert Gordon Mackie (born March 24, 1940 in Monterey Park, California) is an American fashion designer, best known for his costuming for entertainment icons such as Cher, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, and Mitzi Gaynor. He was the costume designer for The Carol Burnett Show during its entire 11 year run and designed the costumes for the 1993 television adaptation of Gypsy.

Mackie is also known for his exclusive designs of dress for high-priced Barbie dolls.

Two of Mackie's best-remembered creations had a humorous event. While working on the The Carol Burnett Show, he designed a "curtain dress" (complete with a curtain rod across the shoulders) that Carol Burnett wore in the Went with the Wind parody. Mackie also designed the garish ensemble worn by Cher at the March 1986 Academy Awards: black stretch pants, a bejeweled loincloth, knee high boots, a black chainlink top, and a huge feathered Mohawk headdress that was one and a half times taller than her head. Introduced by Jane Fonda with the words, "Wait'll you see what's gonna come out here," Cher was appearing as a presenter after what many considered an Oscar snub (Cher was not nominated for her performance in Mask). "As you can see," said Cher, "I did receive my Academy booklet on how to dress like a serious actress."

Mackie is often called the sultan of sequins, or the rajah of rhinestones, known for his sparkling and imaginative costume designs. He has won nine Emmy Awards for his designs, and was thrice nominated for an Academy Award. He attended Pasadena City College and Chouinard Art Institute.

Mackie has said, "A woman who wears my clothes is not afraid to be noticed."

Hand Painted Roses & Lemons, Kodak & America's Centennial!

Lemon Slice Plate -Hand Painted Roses with Gold

This beautiful Lemon Slice Serving Plate is in pristine condition. Not a chip, crack or crazing at all. The Gold trim on the rim and the handle is rich with shine and luster. The hand painted pretty pink roses and buds are on the stem and lay across a pale teal background. This is a porcelain plate. The finish of the glaze on the top of the plate is a matte rather than a high gloss and lends itself to the soft and lovely design. No marks are on the plate to identify its manufacture, but it has a very vintage appeal
It measures 6.5” and weighs about 9 oz. The dark mark on the bottom of the plate is merely a bit of gold that was incidentally made in the manufacturer.
I think this would also be lovely as a wall hanging tied with a pretty ribbon as the hanger.

Timing Clock - Kodak, 'Eastman Timer', circa 1920s
This vintage timer is ticking away beside me here as I type! It works! Yet it is stamped on the back of the somewhat corroded metal, PATENTED/APRIL 27 1920/NOV.29 1921/MADE IN U.S.A.
The mechanisms are tight to wind, and I am not sure how accurate it is going to be…but regardless it is a valuable piece of Kodak history which began in the 20’s! It would be a treasure addition to your camera collection!
It is a circular, what appears to be, nickel plated brass timer clock, 5-60 min. Analogue. Cylindrical shape, with white face and black numbers and markings. A brass ring is attached to the top knob. It is stabilized by two stylish leg supports. There are three mechanisms for winding and adjusting on the back and a start and stop slider on the left top.
The text on the dial reads: EASTMAN/TIMER/EASTMAN KODAK CO./ROCHESTER N.Y./MADE IN U.S.A. Covered with a perfectly intact glass face.
It is 4” in diameter and 2.5” wide
The metal has a dull shine to it still but has some pitting here and there. The back[panel shows signs of heavier corrosion. Also a small crack in the metal at one of the legs. But all feels very sturdy and will last another 100 years!

200th USA Anniversary Year Commemorative Plate 1776-1976
This richly detailed commemorative Plate honors our countries Bicentennial. Classic Eagle and the US colors decorate the plates center with a banner that floats across the design “ E Pluribus Unum” 1776-1976 is positioned beneath the emblem. 200th Anniversary is scrolled across the top of it. Around the border are the months of the year 1976 and all is gold trimmed on the edge.
It is in perfect mint condition. No cracks crazing or chips. It is 9.5” in diameter and weighs about a pound. The back is a warning not to be used for serving foods and the date 1975 Spencer Gifts, Inc. Made in Japan. This plate will hang proudly on your wall or simply add to your American / history / memorabilia collection.

In the interest of my recently posted Blue Willow cica 1912 Egg Coddler below I thought I would add this video of how to use it. The lady is actually using a Royal Worcester. The pattern is the typical floral type. The "Blue Willow" is what makes mine very unique and rarer...I haven't seen any on line or elsewhere, except at eggcoddlers.com. And then you have the Advert that goes along with it... quite a bargain!

“Even the Bubbles Taste Better!
A very happy young boy is about to down the icy cold Coca Cola bottle. While visions of bubbles float around his head. Simple and to the point: youth, happiness, refreshment!
This 9 X 6 ad, which appeared in National Geographic Magazine, April 1956, is framed in glass and trimmed with a copper frame. It is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks, dents or otherwise damaged.
The back is covered with white firm paper It has a plastic hanger to place on the wall and a typed sticker that reads: “ This is not a reproduction. It is an original printing of its era and can only increase in value with time. Hand crafted by : Doug & Bridget Hansen Medford Or 97504. 1956”.

Vintage Glass Jar Food Chopper Metal Lid / Wood Ball open link
Perfect condition!…a bright sunny yellow with classic fruits and vegetable icons are encircling the spring action wood ball plunger You simply unscrew the metal lid and place the food in the jar (a wooden disk sits on the bottom), and the 4 way metal blade chops it all up as you plunge away! Everything is totally washable.
It is also a 2 cup measuring cup! So you don’t even have to measure the ingredients or chop until you have the desired amount.
The ball is a teal blue. No chips or cracks anywhere and the painted has very minimal scuffs…just around the rim very small blemishes. Basically none the entire piece is in near perfect condition. It is 11.5 “ diameter and 5.5 tall not counting the plunger. It weighs 15 oz.
For chopping veggies, fruits, eggs, celery, parsley, nuts, onions, carrots, and many other items…or simply to add to you vintage kitchen ware collection, it is cute and colorful to just look at.

Depression Glass: Machine-pressed, tinted glassware mass-produced during the 1920s and 1930s.
Depression Glass Back in the Day Depression glass was popular and affordable when it was new. The dime store, where the thrifty homemaker could find everything from toiletries to household goods, was a common source for this inexpensive purchase. At a time when a loaf of bread cost about a nickel, frugal shoppers could also buy a piece of Depression glass for around the same price. In fact, there’s a fantastic photograph included in The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Depression Glass by Gene Florence showing a Woolworth’s window display advertising an Old Colony pattern sherbet dish and plate "complete" for 10 cents.
Depression glass also made its way into American homes through the issuance of premiums. Sellers or manufacturers would offer a free gift with the purchase of a certain dollar amount of goods or a specific product, and penny-pinching ladies took full advantage of these offerings.
Glass was plucked from an oatmeal box one week, from a detergent box the next. Sometimes gas stations would throw in a punch bowl and cups with an oil change. Movie theaters got in on the action offering a piece of glass with a ticket to a Saturday matinee.

This early Daphne du Maurier novel centers on the fortunes and fates of five generations of an Anglo-Irish family who are bound to their copper mine on Hungry Hill. Beginning with the first stubborn patriarch, there are the forthright first-born son; the petulant, lazy second-born; and so on. This is a marvelous tale--on a par with du Maurier's more famous books, such as REBECCA and JAMAICA INN.
This hardcover classic is in fair to good condition. The pages, while some yellowing on the edges, are very strong, thick and have no tears. 1 title page is starting to come away from the binding. Just 1 ! There are library stamps, a previous owners address label on the inside jacket which is secured to the board (adhesive from the jacket). This could be taken off and would reveal the very clean green cover (the green cover board does have some fraying on the edges). A few penccil marks on the inside back board.

About Dame Daphne du Maurier, Lady Browning
was an English author and playwright. Many of her works have been adapted into films, including the novels Rebecca, which won the Best Picture Oscar in 1941, Jamaica Inn, and her short stories The Birds and Don't Look Now. The first three were directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Her elder sister was Angela du Maurier, also a writer.
Daphne du Maurier was born in London (although she spent most of her life in her beloved Cornwall), the second of three daughters of the prominent actor-manager Sir Gerald du Maurier and actress Muriel Beaumont (maternal niece of William Comyns Beaumont).[1] Her grandfather was the author and Punch cartoonist George du Maurier, who created the character of Svengali in the novel Trilby. These connections helped her in establishing her literary career; du Maurier published some of her very early work in his Bystander magazine, and her first novel, The Loving Spirit, was published in 1931. Du Maurier was also the cousin of the Llewelyn Davies boys, who served as J.M. Barrie's inspiration for the characters in the play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. Depression Era Cut Herringbone Glass Ice Caddy or Vase

Rare, sturdy and probably hand blown clear glass vessel that can be used for ice or as a beautiful vase or??.
The design is a draping of a herringbone cut on the outside rim and a beveled impressed rib on the inside. It has a beautiful star-burst cut on the bottom. Two little tabs on top give it a carrying bucket look as well. It has a slight beige-ish tint due to its age. I have not seen this pattern anywhere in my research. I would love it if anyone knows, to let me know.
Several little bubbles are floating in the glass, a natural characteristic for hand blown glass. There are no glass seams anywhere. There is a small ONE SIDED crack about ½” in one of the tabs (One sided meaning it is felt on the outside and not the other side of the tab). It almost looks like it happened at the factory many years ago.
It measures 5"H x 15" diameter and weighs 1 lb 15 oz. Very lovely and a useful example of depression glass!

Royal Haeger Vintage Brown Fanned Shell Vase
Decadent, extravagant! This effervescent vase cannot be passed by and go unnoticed. It is stunning in its design and rich colors.
I need to let the pictures describe it for you. I have never seen anything like it!
The color is a rich chocolate drip glaze with teal green undertones.
It measures 10 x 12” and weighs about 2 lbs & 3 oz. It is a narrow fanned vase that measures 3” width. The stylized foaming base is about 6” wide. The Royal Haeger, maker of many other rich and decadent 40-50’s style pottery, mark is on the bottom.
Unfortunately there is a small chip of the glaze only on the front of the shell. And a very small hairline crack near it. The sad part is that I believe I made the faux pas! I dropped a small object on it.
But the good news is that it is very vintage looking and outrageously beautiful all the same! Can you imagine how lovely flowers would look tucked inside behind the shell!!

Shawnee / Cordelia Lady Bust / Head Figurine open link!

Absolutely lovely! This hand painted vintage 40’s-50’s bust of a royal woman of times past, is in good condition. Her romantic face and frock proudly sits on the ceramic base. Wearing a lacey hat full of perfectly crafted flowers (none are chipped), it floats on top of her powder white ceramic wig and curl rolls. The lace on her hat has broken away pieces, but the lacey effect is still in effect, and somehow adds to the look.
The rose on the front of her bodice does have 2 small petals chipped, but you can tell from the photos that this is not very noticeable.
Aside from some crazing of the glaze she is in still beautiful condition.
She still has her “Original Cordelia Hand Painted” Sticker on the back and no markings on the bottom.
Made by the Cordelia China Company of Dalton, Ohio, Shawnee Pottery 1944-1952. She measures 4 x 7 and weaighs only 11 oz.

Betsey Clark Kissing Boy and Girl Children Figurines Set open link!
Adorable! These mischievous little darlings cozy up to each other to show their affection for each other. Their hands behind their backs and all knowing as they approach one another! OR you can turn them the opposite direction and they become 2 stubborn little toddlers, refusing to budge an inch!
They measure 4.5” in height and about 2” in width. There is a minor repair to the little boys shoe but I didn’t even notice it until I started reviewing him closer for sharing here now. The finish/glaze is a very soft realistic matte that lends itself to the sweet baby look.
The bottom reads: Betsey Clark Collection 114/2 for the girl and 115/2 for the boy and also reads: Made in Taiwan 1979 Hallmark Cards by Hallmark.
Adorable and priced right!

Shige Ko Shigeko Mrs Santa Old Lady Figurine
This adorable lovable little lady, dressed in all red with white fir trim, is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks.
I am a little frustrated with this piece because it is hand signed by “Shige Ko” and I have searched and searched, and I cannot find any detail on who this Shige Ko is. If anyone has any clues…please let me know. She measures 9 X 6 “ an weighs 1 . 3 oz.
She appears to be handmade and hand painted. She does have a few minor glaze

crazings, but onlt on the back of her skirt. Her robust figure is very characteristic to Mrs Santa Claus, I wonder where Santa is? Is he coming to town?…I think so…She could arrive to you just in time for the holidays! Her smiling face would be a joy to set on your Holiday table!

The top is made of an iridescent taffeta of lavender and ruby; (not seen in the Photo’s): the mid-calf Capri style pants are of lavender satin. Long sleeves gathered above the wrist, emerge from the angled neckline of the fitted bodice. The daring neckline ends in a lavender bow accented by a multi-colored brooch.
The outfit includes lavender lace-up heels, multi stoned bracelet and “ruby & gold” drop earrings. Note: the little white dot in the photo of the hem is simply a removable slip stitch to hold the skirts in place for shipment.

I have just gotten back from a 2 week tour throughout the West : Went to Hollywood and saw the Craig Ferguson Show! Disneyland on my birthday! ...it is free on your birthday this year! Peoria, Sedona, AZ, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Yosemite..It was a great time!

Tip about Disnyeland: The best way to see Disneyland is in a electric wheel chair that you can rent there! It is your car! No sore feet at the end of the day! and as an added bonus you can choose to go to the front of any ride lines! Of course, if you are not really layed up for some reason this is sort of unfair to the others...so don't just use the chair to get to the front of the line, but Randy had a cane and bad leg (just had a broken leg) and so needed it anyway. But anyone can rent one, just to have the comfort throughout the day and always a chair! I borrowed his too for quick errands, or to go walk the dog at the Disneyland kennel! that's right they even have a Disneyland kennel!!

It was a very fun day!

Golden beads accent both the figure-hugging toreador pants and Bolero jacket at the pants slits and shoulder caps. The dashing circle cape is of gold brocade lined with scarlet satin. It is ingeniously doubles as a full length skirt! This is still in original unopened wrap. Includes a matador’s hat with a long stemmed red rose, shoes, and golden hoop earrings. Gene’s glossy, spice dark hair is neatly rolled up into a snood of
gold net. (The white ribbon around her waist is merely to tie her into the box, never undone). Designed by renowned fashion artist Tim Kennedy.
Gene’s box comes with a tri-fold brochure that shares the story of “Song Of Spain” and “the man behind the legend”… Mel Odom. Also “The story of Gene", which is truly fascinating!

This lovely quad of flower samples under glass and framed in delicate shimmering stenciled brass sheet are stunningly sweet. While the illustrations of the roses are not original the detail on them is beautiful. I believe they are all roses, but not positive. The images are in very good condition, except that one (the yellow classic rose) has a very light discoloration at the side of the rose. The circular glass covers of the images are in very good condition with no chips or cracks or scratches.The metal frames are very thin and flexible. You can literally bend them. They are stamp cut in the border with butterflies and the metal carries through as the back of the frame as well, which all are in excellent condition. Each one is embossed “Made In England” and has a pull away eye in the metal to place your hook in. They are very light weight individually, but together they weigh about a pound. They measure 6” around. Very pretty! These would look beautiful on your vintage wall collection.

This beautiful Hamilton Skotch Corporation Jug is in perfect vintage condition. With its bright Red, Yellow and Black Tartan plaid metal outer canister and its bright red plastic drinking cup/cap, it is a striking piece just to look at. But it is functionally perfect as well…perhaps a precursor to the famous Thermos brands of today. Underneath its red cup is a twist off pouring spout with a flip top. Estimated age circa mid 1950's - 1960's. Hamilton stopped production of these in 1970 (per web info)This is an ORIGINAL, these were often offered as premiums for example when purchased with NESCAFE instant coffee you could buy it for 75 CENT DISCOUNT PRICE instead of the 2.49 regular retail price.The inside Glass, made by Alexander H, Kerr Glass Jar and Bottle Co., (Kerr logo is visible on the bottom of the glass), is in perfect condition! No chips or cracks anywhere. It is water tight. Another indication of its vintage age is that the insulation used is a cotton batting and not the common insulations we see today. As stated its condition is almost immaculate the only wear I see is what can be seen in the photos, some minor chipping of the enamel on the carmel colored top around the edges only. Absolutley no carks or chips anywhere else on the jug! Even on the bottom! You can see in one of the pics that the enamel sheen is still very glossy on the bottom and the entire jug. There are no dents or other color discolorations on the plaid or anywhere else at all. The metal handle which shows no sign of paint on it may have at one time been painted or chromed, as it is a flat dark grey metal now.
You can see the Skotch Jug emblem on the upper side, which reads: “The Skotch Jug, The Hamilton Skotch Corporation, Hamilton, Oh., Half Gallon”. It measures 19.5” in diameter and 7” to the jar opening and 3” to the top of the red cup.
What a beauty! I want to see this on “Mad Men”!

This Stunning and detailed vintage Art Plastic brand 12 Piece Nativity set is circa 50’s. It was purchased at an estate sale and I was told it has been in the family for many Christmas Holidays. Each piece is molded crafted with skill and artistic quality. Each richly colorful piece, set on the base plastic color of a cream beige is also accented with gold paint, as in the angels wings, Mary & Joseph’s robes, the Wise Men’s gifts and the baby Jesus’s Halo. The Sweet kneeling animals are lightly dusted

with color and kneeling on green “grass” or hay. They appear to be hand painted. Each figure has little black dots for the eyes, and the expression on each figure is somber and in reverence. The figures are hollow and each have the “AP” for Art Plastic, mark on the inside. The fact that this is a vintage Art Plastics nativity scene makes it very collectable. The maximum height of the largest piece is 4” and the animals are 2 & 3” in length. All the paint is in tact, there are no broken corners or breaks. They feel like they are quality and will last for generations to come! Oh …and the little angel carries a banner that reads “Gloria In Excelsis Deo”. This set is absolutely beautiful.

Columbia – Minerva Hand Knits for Men Pattern Book Vintage 50’sOPEN LINK!

I think this full color collection of wonderful Men’s Sweaters and other hand knits was previously owned by someone who didn’t knit much, as the copy is in very good condition! Each colorful page of handsome men is clean and easy to read. Some minor fraying to the corners and slightly on the edge is all I see with the exception of 4 pages that have pulled (maybe intentionally) away from the stapled binding, but all in very nice condition. If you are wanting to create a retro sweater for him for the holidays, this would be the book to get! 56 9 x 12” pages and a back page that has Gauge, Abbreviatios, Washing & Drying Instructions, and some stitch instructions. No you are not looking at a flying saucer! This “Atomic Age” 50’s era pale turquoise with brushed gold antique ashtray or candy dish is a beautiful piece, with only 1 small chip on the underside of the rim (seen in the picture). The top is in mint condition! It has a wonderful matte finish that glows somehow. The feel of it is very smooth and tactile.The gold brush work shows off the embossed design in the ceramic. The inner ring visible in the photo has what appears to be cigarette braces, and I was convinced at first glance that this was an ashtray. But then after studying it further I realized it could very well be a serving dish for candy or nuts or mints, etc. In fact since the center well is shallow it would make a wonderful floating dish for short stemmed flowers such as Gardenias or Camilla’s! The bottom mark is the Stangl Logo Trenton NJ, 3972, Pat No 3,060,610. One of the bottom green felt circles has fallen off, which is easily replaceable. It measures 10” in diameter.

Very good condition! Just minor wear. Some color photos other on vintage standard newsprint. While some corners are bent or dog eared a bit, all pages are intact & in firm binding and no markings. Articles include: The American Revolution in Teaching Beginners; Do Interfaith Marriages Work?; First Twelve Months…Life’s Fastest Growing Year; The Trouble With Early Dating; All Children are Born Talented.The ads are wonderfully representative of the time!

Royal Albert “Flower of the Month Series” ~December~ 1970 Teacup & Saucer open link

This is an absolutely pristine work of art. Even the gold rim is as if it has never been used. The cup is a “squatty”, with an elegant handle also trimmed in hand painted gold.The Christmas Rose is all around the cup and saucer, but also on the inside of the cup. The snow white background offsets the green in the berry color strikingly! Even the mark on the bottom of the cup and saucer have a posy of Christmas Rose and the words “Royal Albert Bone China. Made in England. Flower of the Month series. ‘Christmas Rose’. 1970 Royal Albert LTD”.Whether you are needing this set to complete your collection of the Flower of the Month teacups or just starting out, you will not be disappointed in this vintage set!

Midnight Rose Parfumerie Doiret Face Powder open link

This sweet cardboard box of Midnight Rose Parfumerie Doiret Face Powder has a subtle scent… lovely, light and powdery. The lid is blue dapple matted cardboard with a silver embossed graphic of a single rose As you can see when opened, the box is sealed with a slight bit of fray of the paper. Some of the powder is just barely beginning to start to come out, but it is sealed, nonetheless. The fragrance has held well because of this.The label on the bottom reads, “Flesh $2.00 Parfumerie Doiret Powder New York City”. This was probably a high price in the 50’s, which is what I guess the age to be. I tried to research to find out more about the brand, but I found nothing at all. Is this a rare find? The lid slides off and on easily. There are some blemishes on the box: the corners are a bit frayed, wear showing in other places and there is some sort of discoloration to the silvery base in one corner. But the box is sturdy and attractive. It measures 3 x 3 x 1.5". A very nice addition to your 50’s style vanity and or beauty collection!
